PROGRAMS

Beginning Toddler (15-24 months)

The Beginning Toddler Program is for children from 15 to 24 months old. The focus is on developing independence and concentration. Maria Montessori believed that "we should never enable the child. Let them do what they are capable of doing." This class is the first step.

Parents of children in this program are delighted to see the number of tasks their children can complete on their own when allowed to do so. The children gain valuable pride and confidence from their newfound proficiency and independence.

This program also includes weekly enrichment sessions in French and Music.

Teacher-to-child ratio is 1:5. Available on a half- or full-day basis.

Toddler (2-3 years)

CaitlynThe Toddler Program is for children between the ages of two and three. Here, the children learn to respect their own space and the space of others around them as well as respect their peers and adults. They work on self-care, a life skill that instills confidence and increased self-esteem.

This program serves as a building block and transition for the child to take on further tasks with confidence and enthusiasm, thus preparing him/her for the multi-age 3-6 classroom.

This program also includes weekly enrichment sessions in French, Spanish and Music.

Teacher-to-child ratio is 1:8. Available on a half- or full-day basis.

Pre-Primary (3-6 years)

mickyChildren in this age group devote themselves to the development of their intellectual faculties. Using a nurturing, individualized approach, we create a self-directed thirst for learning. For more information on this multi-age approach, visit the Montessori Three-Year Cycle.

This program also includes weekly enrichment sessions in French, Spanish and Music.

Teacher-to-child ratio is 1:10. Available on a half- or full-day basis morning or afternoon. Five-day-a-week attendance is encouraged, especially in the half-day program, in order to create consistency.

Kindergarten on Fieldtrip at Graham's ChocolateKindergarten

Kindergartners at Mansio Mens bloom into confident, well-prepared children ready to go to the next level. They begin their day as part of the Montessori morning with a special emphasis during this time on age-appropriate works and mentoring their younger peers. The resulting sense of mastery and maturity is invaluable when they enter first grade.

Their morning also includes weekly enrichment sessions in French, Spanish and Music.

After lunch, there is a special pull-out session where they work more in-depth with the kindergarten teacher and Montessori materials. This more teacher-directed program prepares them for a smooth transition to the next level.

Generally there are a dozen students in this class.
