Montessori Language to Use at Home
Use your inside voice.
Walking feet in the classroom and indoors.
Thank you for waiting so patiently.
Respect your friend's words and their work space.
Use your words instead of your hands.
Be specific to your friend: I don't like it when you hit me, I want to play alone right now, and I want to play with you.
Be kind.
Listen to your friend's words.
Treat your toy/works with gentle hands.
I like the way you are calming your body.
Crying is hurting my ears, please calm your body so we can talk.
Treat others the way you want to be treated.
Hands on your own body (hands behind your back while waiting).
Can you do it yourself or would you like some help.
I see that (name) chose that work first, you may ask him/her if you can work with him.
Balls are for throwing/kicking, hats are for your head, baskets are for your work.
Books are for reading. Chairs are for sitting in. Tables are for your work. (Putting a positive spin on negative behavior)
