ENRICHMENT

Foreign Language

During the vital first six years of life, the absorbent minds of children are able to learn a second language far more easily than at any other time in their life. At this age, they have an uncanny ability to grasp the complexities of language-and not just one language! They carry this "ear for language" with them for the rest of their lives.

For this reason, children at Mansio Mens receive both French and Spanish instruction as part of their school week. Specially trained teachers introduce the languages through music, games and even artwork, making the learning of language fun and appealing.

French
Mansio Mens' has been fortunate to have Madame Cecile Chang on its staff. She is wonderful and presents engaging lessons to the children.

Children in the Beginning Toddler and Toddler programs receive French instruction one morning a week. Children in the 3-6 year old classrooms receive French instruction twice a week.

Spanish
Mansio Mens is delighted to also offer upbeat, enjoyable Spanish instruction with Michelle Meister. Michelle comes once a week and invites the children to participate in songs, games and language presentations.

Music

Just as children's minds are particularly open to learning language and beginning concepts in their first six years, they also have an amazing ability to grasp music. In addition to being a part of daily life at Mansio Mens, music is also formally introduced to the children through a specially trained instructor, Linida Bulifant, who meets with each class one morning a week. During this time, the children enjoy a variety of songs as well as the opportunity to experiment with instruments.

Summers at Mansio Mens

Mansio Mens is a year-round school for children. During the summer months, we take advantage of the learning opportunities that good weather offers via nature hikes and field trips. We also offer two-week day camps with various focuses throughout the summer. For further details, contact the director at 630-232-6750.
